Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 10, 2026

Page Screenshot Pro (“the extension”) captures full-page screenshots, annotates them, exports PDFs and runs on-device OCR. This policy explains what the extension and its licence server handle — in short: your screenshots never leave your device.

1. What stays on your device

  • Screenshots and captures. Everything you capture is processed and stored locally in your browser (browser storage / IndexedDB). Captured images are never uploaded to us or to any third party.
  • OCR. Text recognition runs fully offline using a bundled OCR engine (Tesseract.js) inside your browser. Images used for OCR never leave your device.
  • Editor and clipboard. Annotations happen locally. The clipboard is written to only when you explicitly click a copy action.

2. What we store to manage your licence

  • Install ID. On first run the extension generates a random identifier (UUID). It is stored in your browser (chrome.storage.sync, which roams across your devices under your own Google account, with a local fallback). It is used only as the key for your Pro licence — it contains no personal information.
  • Licence state. Whether Pro is unlocked and which plan you bought is stored locally in your browser.

3. Payments (Waffo)

Payments are processed by Waffo, our merchant of record. Checkout opens Waffo's hosted checkout page in your browser — your card details go directly to Waffo and never touch the extension or our servers. See waffo.ai for Waffo's own privacy policy.

After a successful payment, Waffo notifies our licence server (a Cloudflare Worker), which records: the plan purchased, its status and period, your install ID, and — only to support “restore purchase” — the email address you paid with, mapped to that install ID. No screenshot content, browsing history or page content is ever sent to the licence server.

4. “Restore purchase”

If you reinstall the extension or move to a new computer, you can restore Pro by entering the email you paid with. The server looks up the email → install ID mapping and links your new install ID to the original licence. Restore requests are rate-limited; the server never reveals whether an email has a purchase.

5. Permissions — why the extension asks for them

  • activeTab / scripting — to capture the tab you ask it to; content scripts are injected on demand only.
  • file:/// host access — only for local-file screenshots, and only if you enable “Allow access to file URLs” in Chrome.
  • downloads — to save images and PDFs you export.
  • storage / unlimitedStorage — for settings, licence state and capture history.
  • clipboardWrite — only when you use a copy action.
  • contextMenus — right-click menu entries.
  • notifications — local error alerts only (for example, a capture failure).
  • tabs — to notice when the checkout tab returns, so a completed payment unlocks Pro.
  • offscreen — to stitch images in an invisible document instead of opening a tab.
  • identity / identity.email — to pre-fill the email field on the checkout page. Only the address itself is read; it is not stored by us.

6. What we do NOT do

  • No analytics, no telemetry, no advertising SDKs.
  • We do not sell, rent or share your data with third parties for marketing.
  • The extension makes no network requests of its own except licence checks to our licence server (install ID only) and opening Waffo's hosted checkout.

7. Data retention and deletion

Licence records are kept while your purchase or subscription is active (and as required for tax and accounting records by our payment processor). Uninstalling the extension removes all locally stored data — screenshots, settings and install ID. To delete your licence-server record, contact us at the address below.

8. Changes

If this policy changes materially, we will update the effective date above and note the change in the extension's release notes.
